Katherine Fredriksen, the deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, said on August 13 that the strengthened cooperation between the United States and China in energy field would benefit both sides.

On the hearing that held on the same day, Frederiksen said that the economic scale and the impact on international energy market of U.S. and China decided the energy security goals of the two countries were closely related. She believed that the cooperation between the United States and China in the energy technologies enhanced the energy utilization efficiency of each other, and it was a goal worthy of efforts, also helping to stabilize relation between the two countries.

She also said that the U.S. government believed energy security, environmental sustainable development and economic prosperity were important to both U.S. and China. The cooperation between U.S. and China would effectively deal with the existing challenges in current energy field.
